Whether through an accident, an inability to provide perfect oral hygiene, or through no fault of your own, there comes a time when a tooth simply cannot be saved. Dr. Eric Berkner and all of the staff here at Ponderosa Dental Arts in Oregon City are committed to providing the best possible care under these circumstances, and restoring your beautiful smile to you with a permanent solution.
Dental implants are an effective, safe, and permanent method for replacing teeth that are damaged beyond repair with new ones, while maintaining the natural look and feel of your smile. When properly performed by your dental specialist, they can also help prevent bone decay or additional complications that can arise when damaged teeth go untreated. We genuinely care for the long-term health of our patients, and will be happy to sit down and discuss with our patients the best and most effective method of restoration for their individual needs. We always take into account your oral health, patient history, lifestyle, and host of other factors when we sit down with our patients for a full consultation on the options available to them.
Here at Ponderosa Dental Arts, we primarily recommend one of the below three options for tooth-replacement. Different options may be better for different scenarios, depending upon the number of missing teeth, condition of the gums, etc.
- Single-tooth replacement – this is the most recommended option, and one with the highest rate of sucesss. As these replacements never decay, and root canals are never a necessity, these replacements are a fantastic option for long-term replacement of any missing single tooth.
- Multi-tooth replacements – usually reserved for situations where three or more teeth in a row are missing or damaged, these replacements are similar in nature to bridges. However, unlike a bridge, where connections must be made to natural teeth, which can become weak and show signs of decay, implants spare the surrounding teeth, and thus have no impact on them.
- Implant-supported dentures – used in severe cases, with multiple teeth needing replacement, these dentures lock into place and replace an entire jawline of teeth along the upper or lower rows (or both). Because of their unique locking nature, jaw movement will not cause these to move around, like normal dentures – making them a much more permanent and more user-friendly option.
At Ponderosa Dental Arts, we are committed to providing our patients with the best experience possible – and that means that the implant technology we utilize will, just like your natural teeth, last you a lifetime, with proper cleaning and maintenance. Through each stage of the implant and replacement process, Dr. Eric Berkner and the team will be happy to discuss with you the proper care and maintenance of your new implants, as well as provide continued support during future visits.
